Boditech Med Book & Culture Club – “Come and join us!”

Hello, everyone. It’s a great pleasure and honor to introduce our Book & Culture Club. It’s been three years since we officially started in 2019. Let me tell you what activities our Club has been doing. We read numerous books with diverse topics and enjoy some cultural activities such as art exhibitions. Especially, we share our thoughts about the books and various indirect experiences about life.

Each member selects a book they want to read. And we get together once a month after work having a dinner to talk about the books. As we couldn’t have a meeting in person during the COVID-19 pandemic, we did virtual meeting. Our main activity is to read a book and to share our thoughts, but we also go to art exhibitions in case any one of us want to visit.

What I would like to mention about our Club is that we have a friendly atmosphere regardless of rank and position. We all can talk freely and share opinions about diverse topics. The thing is that there is no right or wrong. It’s important for us to talk and to spend time with our members.

One of memorable moments I would like to share is when we went to the Seoul Museum of Art to visit the David Hockney exhibition. He is one of my favorite painters and I strongly recommended our clubs’ members to admire his artwork. I believe the if you are a fan of Daivd Hockney, you probably knew that 370 thousand people visited his exhibition at that time, which was huge hit as a private exhibition in South Korea. After we saw the exhibition, we went to a restaurant to eat cold been soup noodles with ice as one of our club members loved it. The thing was that I barely eat the cold been soup noodles, but it was the best one that I’ve ever eaten. Sometimes I feel I want to go there again, especially in summertime.

I usually read book a lot when I was young but I couldn’t since I have started my job. I sometimes just went to bookstore to skim the book. That’s it. But I started reading books since I joined this book & culture club, which was great decision that I’ve made. And it’s great that there are many ways of reading books such as e-books and audio books in these days.

I would like to recommend several books you all. Here are the lists; 1) “Guts” by Seowhan Cho, 2) “Don’t do it” by Gilyoung Song, 3) “Keeping going! We are strong!” by Kyungsuk Jungkim, 4) “How to succeed” by Minji Hong. Those books are fun to read if you want to refresh your mind.

I guess there are many people who don’t like read a book. Reading a book is not everything in our club. What we care the most is “speaking freely”. You can choose any topics that you want to talk. If you want to join us, please contact us anytime. Have a great day and be careful not to catch a cold!
