Performance validation of COVID-19 antigen test kits on omicron variants

Boditech Med is pleasure to share the news that the performance of AFIAS/ichroma™ COVID-19 Ag and AFIAS/ichroma™ COVID-19/Flu Ag Combo is not affect by omicron variant in the internal evaluation. 

This evaluation was targeted two of COVID-19 antigen test kits (ichroma™ COVID-19 Ag, AFIAS COVID-19 Ag) and two of COVID-19 antigen combo test kits (ichroma™ COVID-19/Flu Ag, AFIAS COVID-19/Flu Ag), which are the main test kits for COVID-19 antigen test. The amino acid sequence of the omicron variant had been analyzed according to the information provided by WHO (World Health Organization) and it turns out that Boditech Med Inc.’s COVID-19 antigen test kits can detect the omicron variant as well as original SARS-CoV-2 virus. The omicron variant has major mutations at the S-protein as the delta variant did. However, as the target of our products are targeting on N-protein, which is not affected in the omicron variants. 

A company official said, “We will keep pushing our COVID-19 PCR test kits and currently working on PCR test that can detect original virus and omicron variant simultaneously at our molecular diagnostics subsidiary Ugenecell.“
